Who is responsible

Ledgertone (https://ledgertone.github.io/) is run by Daniil (SETTWOR), who is the controller of your data. Contact for any privacy question: ledgertonehq@gmail.com.

Short version

The site has no accounts, forms, comments, or advertising. Personal data is processed in four ways: the hosting provider's technical logs, requests for artist pictures to Spotify's image servers, limited cookie-free visit pings sent to Google Analytics, and, only if you accept, Google Analytics cookies.

What is processed and why

DataPurposeLegal basis
IP address and request data in server logs kept by GitHub Pages, our hosting providerDelivering the site and keeping it secureLegitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We do not have access to these logs.
IP address and browser details, sent to Spotify's image servers (i.scdn.co) when your browser loads artist pictures on the rankings page. We ask your browser not to send the page address.Showing artist pictures without storing them on the siteLegitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can object at any time, see below.
Analytics data from Google Analytics 4 after you accept: pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, referrer, visit time, and a random identifier stored in cookiesUnderstanding how many people visit the site and which parts are usedYour consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR)
Before you choose, or if you reject: limited cookie-free pings from the Google tag (page address, referrer, time, browser and device details, and the IP address as seen by Google). No analytics cookies are set and no identifier is stored on your device.Counting visits in aggregate and modeling the effect of declined consentLegitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can object at any time, see below.
Your cookie choice, stored in your browser (localStorage key ledgertone-consent)Remembering your choice so we do not ask on every visitStrictly necessary for the consent feature
Your theme choice (Light or Dark), stored in your browser (localStorage key ledgertone-theme); nothing is stored if you leave it on AutoRemembering your display preferenceFunctional preference you set yourself, it is never sent anywhere
The version number the site last reloaded itself to, stored in your browser for the current session only (sessionStorage key ledgertone-updated), cleared when you close the tab or the appLoading a new version of the site once and avoiding reload loopsStrictly necessary for the update feature

Cookies

Only if you click Accept, Google Analytics sets these first-party cookies:

CookiePurposeDuration
_gaDistinguishes visitorsUp to 2 years
_ga_<container id>Keeps session stateUp to 2 years

If you click Reject, or do not choose, no analytics cookies are set. The Google tag is still loaded and sends only the limited cookie-free pings described above. You can change your choice at any time with the Cookie settings button in the footer. Choosing Reject afterwards removes the Google Analytics cookies from this site.

Advertising features are off: ad storage, ad user data, ad personalization, and Google signals are disabled.

Recipients and transfers

Google Ireland Limited and Google LLC process analytics data on our behalf, and data may be transferred to the United States. Google relies on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses. GitHub, Inc. (a Microsoft company) hosts the site. Spotify AB serves the artist pictures and handles the requests your browser sends to its image servers under its own privacy policy. We do not sell personal data.

Retention

Google Analytics event data is kept for the period set in our Google Analytics property, at most 14 months, then deleted automatically. Hosting logs follow GitHub's own retention rules.

Your rights

You may ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction, or portability of your data, object to processing based on legitimate interest, and withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier processing. Because analytics data is tied only to a random identifier, we may need that identifier (the value of your _ga cookie) to find your data. Write to ledgertonehq@gmail.com.

You can also complain to a supervisory authority. In Poland this is the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO), https://uodo.gov.pl.

Third-party links

Ranking entries may link to artist profiles on Pandora. Artist pictures come from Spotify. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of other websites.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date above changes and the previous consent choice is asked for again if the change affects analytics.
